Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data displayed in the comment form, as well as the visitor's IP address and browser user agent string to aid spam detection.
An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) can be provided to the Gravatar service to verify whether you are using it. Gravatar's privacy policy is available at here.
Once your comment is approved, your profile picture will be publicly visible in the context of the comment.
Media
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Site visitors can download and extract any location data from images on the site.
Cookies
If you leave a comment on our site, you can choose to save your name, email address and website in cookies. This is for your convenience, so you don't have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine whether your browser accepts cookies. This cookie does not contain any personal data and will be deleted when you close your browser.
When you log in, we also set several cookies to store your login information and display preferences. Login cookies last for two days and display preference cookies last for one year. If you select "Remember me", your session will persist for two weeks. When you log out, your login cookies will be deleted.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie does not contain any personal data and simply indicates the ID of the article you have just edited. It expires after 1 day.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other sites behaves in the same way as if the visitor had visited the originating website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, insert additional third party tracking and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking whether you have an account and are logged into that website.
Who we share your data with
If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.
How long we keep your data
If you leave a comment, both the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so that we can automatically recognise and approve subsequent comments rather than keeping them in a moderation queue.
For users who register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can view, edit or delete their personal information at any time (except for the user name). Site administrators can also view and edit that information.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site or have left comments, you can request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we delete any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data that we are required to keep for administrative, legal or security reasons.
Where your data is sent
Visitors' comments can be checked by an automatic spam detection service.
We collect information about you during the purchase process.
